Kate Beckinsale Returning To “Underworld” 4

Kate Beckinsale

Kate Beckinsale, the star of the first two films in the “Underworld” series, has rejoined the cast of the franchise for a fourth film. Beckinsale did not appear in the third film, “Underworld: Rise of the Lycans,” which served as a prequel to the first two films.

Beckinsale’s return to the cast raises a number of other questions about the upcoming fourth film. Among those questions is whether or not Scott Speedman will return to the cast in his role as Michael Corvin. The other big question that remains unanswered is whether or not Beckinsale’s husband Len Wiseman will return behind the camera having directed the first two films.

Beckinsale’s absence in the third film jived with the story line which took place before the first two films on the timeline. Rhona Mitra stepped into the leading female role for that film. The fourth film gets underway in March 2011 with filming taking place in Vancouver.

Underworld is a unique perspective on the evolution of the vampire and lycan relationship. It is obviously more appealing to a more mature audience opposite to its more pop-ish counterpart, Twilight. Both serve their own purposes, complimenting their respective followings. Hopefully, Corbin is included with Selen in the next Chapter of Underworld. Im anxious to see what happens. Well, its March, im waiting on trailers.
