“Star Wars” Coming to 3D in 2012
“Star Wars” fans unite! A new generation will be lured into the epic gallactic battle when the entire six film franchise is released in 3D starting in 2012. It is becoming common place it would seem for the franchise to be “re-made” every decade or so after the three prequels were added to the franchise at the start of the 21st century.
George Lucas confirmed that all six films will be released in 3D conversion starting in 2012. Lucas was rumored to be waiting for more 3D screens to be up and running around the country in order for the release to be big enough. Fox, the studio which released the first six, will re-release all six films in 3D.
Each film will reportedly take a full year to convert into 3D and Lucas will be overseeing the process himself. The first film to be released will be “The Phantom Menace.”
