Emma Stone Cast As Gwen Stacy For “Spider-Man” 4
Actress Emma Stone has been cast in the role of Gwen Stacy in the upcoming “Spider-Man” reboot. Marc Webb will be at the helm for the new project which is due in theaters in 2012.
The new film will see Peter Parker (played by Andrew Garfield) head back to high school in a break from the original three films which starred Tobey Maguire and were directed by Sam Raimi. Stone will play the role of Gwen Stacy who, in the comics, is the daughter of a police official and is Peter Parker’s girlfriend. Though not as famous as Mary Jane to fans of the web-slinger, Stacy is expected to play a big role in the reboot.
It was widely reported earlier this week that Stone, who starred in “Superbad” and “Easy A,” was going to be offered the role of Mary Jane in the upcoming reboot.
She should have been Mary Jane, everyone knows Gwen is a blonde. More bad choices by the casting director (not to mention the guy that’s playing Peter is 27-28 years old playing a high schooler, and the actor looks his age). Fail.
