HARRY POTTER Set To Be 3-D On Blu-Ray
Earlier in the week Warner Bros announced that they would not release Part 1 of Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows in 3-D because the post production work could not be done in time for the November 19th release date. But for all of you out there that were dying to see Harry and friends in 3-D, don’t fret – Warner Bros. has started on converting all four of David Yates Harry Potter films into 3-D for their Blu-Ray release.
Currently Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince is being converted, and Order of the Phoenix will be next in line. Prime Focus, the company that converted Clash of the Titans to 3-D is handling the 3-D work on the Potter films.
Once the 3-D work is completed, Prime Focus will give Yates the ability to view the converted footage to be certain that his standards for the film are met.
There is no date set for the release of the Blu-Rays, mainly because Warner Bros. does not want to have to cancel or postpone the anticipated date if anything goes wrong with the 3-D conversion. It also gives Warner Bros. time to coordinate with other Harry Potter directors – Christ Columbus, Alfonso Cuaron and Mike Newell to convert the first 4 films to 3-D.
Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 1 will premiere on November 19th, 2010.
