Keira Knightley Making Her West End Debut In THE CHILDREN’S HOUR
The Children’s Hour was written in 1934, and follows the story of an all girl boarding school teacher (Knightley) who is suspected of being a lesbian after the students start spreading rumors of her relationship with another instructor at the school. The play was banned in Boston, but opened in Paris to great reviews, and was premiered on Broadway in 1936.
Rosie O’Donnell may be cast opposite Knightley as the woman Knightley is suspected of having a relationship with.
Pending the success of The Children’s Hour on the West End, it will likely open on Broadway next winter. The revival will be directed by Ian Rickson, who also directed the revival of The Seagull on Broadway.
