Wesley Snipes To Produce CODE NAME ZORRO
Despite his current problems with the IRS, Wesley Snipes is planning on producing and acting in CODE NAME ZORRO, a film about the life of Martin Luther King Jr. and the problems that he had with the FBI.
Code Name Zorro takes the MLK story to an interesting direction. It focuses on the final moments fo the assistant FBI director William Sullivan. When working for the FBI, Sullivan headed Code Name Zorro, the FBI’s program designed to tarnish King’s reputation, thus undermining the power King held during the civil rights movement. The script shows that Sullivan actually admired King’s efforts, and never spoke up before King’s assassination.
Code Name Zorro is being written by Justin Stamm, and will be produced by Snipes as well as 4 Reel Entertainment’s Diana Stamm, Ed Elbert, and Tony Oppedisano, with Dan Meachum as executive producer.
Snipes has met with King’s son and said that he came away with the family’s endorsement of the film that poses the questions of how King was treated by the FBI.
