Darren Aronofsky to Direct And Develop MACHINE MAN
Darren Aronofsky director of Black Swan which is set for release December 2010, has his next project lined up. Aronofsky will develop and direct MACHINE MAN, a sci-fi thriller for Mandalay and will reunite with Black Swan co-write Mark Heyman.
Machine Man is based an a story by Max Barry and focuses on an engineer working at a tech firm who gets tired of being an average guy. He becomes obsessed with his own self improvements and decides to replace his weak parts with high end titanium upgrades, which he designs himself. Ultimately he discovers that others have their eyes on him for their own motives.
Barry is publishing the story online one page per day, and will have the novel complete by Vintage books in Spring 2011.
Aronfosky and Mandalay will work with Barry to adapt Machine Man for the screen, and Machine Man will be Aronfosky’s project after shooting Wolverine 2.
Adam stone is overseeing for Mandalay, Cathy Schulman will produce, and Barry will exec produce. Aronfosky and Heyman have worked together previously in Black Swan and The Wrestler, and both are repped by CAA.
