Martin Sheen and Sally Field In Talks For New Spider-Man Film
SPIDER-MAN may have found Uncle Ben and Aunt May! Martin Sheen is in final negations to play Uncle Ben while Sally Field is in talks for the role of Aunt May in the new relaunch of the Spider-Man series.
In the comic books it is Uncle Ben’s murder that is the catalyst for Peter Parker to use his new powers for good instead of just personal gain. Sheen is in the final stages to secure his role as Uncle Ben, while Field is being looked at for his wife Aunt May.
In the early comics, Aunt May is a frail older woman, who is frequently sick, which doesn’t help Peter’s personal issues. She is also the only family that Peter Parker has, so she is a huge supporting character to the Spider-Man lore.
Marc Webb is set to direct the new reboot of Spider-Man with Andrew Garfield set to suit up as Spidey, Emma Stone as love interested Gwen Stacy, and Rhys Ifans as the unknown villain.
Sheen can last be seen in the Love Happens, and stars in The Way (directed by his son Emilio Estevez) which is selling at AFM.
2003’s Legally Blonde 2: Red, White, & Blonde was Field’s last major studio role, and she can be seen on ABC’S Brothers & Sisters.
Filming for Spider-Man is set to begin in December of 2010.
