Jon Favreau Set To Direct MAGIC KINGDOM
Jon Favreau (Iron Man) is set to direct the Disney production MAGIC KINGDOM, based on the Disneyland theme park where attractions and characters come to life. Disney has had good luck with turning it’s theme park attractions into full length movies – look at the Pirates of the Caribbean franchise – and will now bring the entire park into the movie.
The studio is looking for a writer to take another pass at the original script which was penned by Ron Moore, the show runner of Battlestar Galactica.
It’s not official that Favreau will direct yet; his involvement will depend on the development of the script, but he currently doesn’t have anything slotted. He is in post production for next year’s Cowboys & Aliens, and has two other projects in development with Columbia: Me and My Monster and Johnny Zero.
Magic Kingdom will be produced by Marc Abraham and Eric Newman through Strike Entertainment.
