A Rubik’s Cube Movie In The Works

The Rubik’s cube, product of Hungarian sculptor Erno Rubik is getting ready to be the focal point of a blockbuster movie.

When films like Transformers (based on the toy) do as well as they have, it stands to reason that Hollywood would look for other games and toys to market. Next on the list is the Rubik’s cube, the six sided colorful block puzzle that has been the cause of countless frustrations for many.

There is no writer or producer attached to the film yet, and without this, the details of the plot are a little convoluted. While the game has appeared in a handful of movies, Wall-E, The Pursuit of Happyness, and Hellboy to name a few, it has never been the center of a film itself.

Rumors are flying that the project could revolve around a Rubik’s Cube competition, but details are scarce.

Other games that are looking at the big screen are Candy Land and Monopoly, the latter having Ridley Scott as a possible director.

Rubik’s Cube is currently being shopped by CAA’s Matt Rosen, we’ll see what happens!
