Channing Tatum Sets Eyes On Role In Jonah Hill’s 21 JUMP STREET
21 JUMP STREET, the cop show from the 80s, is set to hit the big screen and Channing Tatum wants in. Tatum, most recently seen in the drama Dear John, is looking to begin negotiations with Sony for the lead role in Jump Street.
The television show is best known for launching Johnny Depp’s career, an while Depp is too old to play the character he originated, he has been offered a cameo in the movie if he wants it.
Tatum will be filling Depp’s shoes in the role of Officer Tom Hanson. The premise of 21 Jump Street is about a pair of police officers that go undercover as high school students to weed out crime.
Jona Hill has written the big screen adaptation and would be paired on screen with Tatum. The production is set to begin shooting next spring, and will be directed by Phil Lord and Chris Miller, the directors that brought us Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs.
