Denis Leary To Join SPIDER-MAN

The new SPIDER-MAN reboot is in talks with Denis Leary. The actor is looking to play police captain George Stacy who had frequent contact with Spidey. Stacy is also the father of Spider-Man’s love interested Gwen Stacy, which is being played by Emma Stone.
Leary hasn’t appeared in a theatrical movie since 2002, but he is currently starring in the FX drama Rescue Me.
In the comics, captain Stacy is killed in during a battle between Spider-Man and Doctor Octopus, which leads his daughter to consequently hate the hero. This leads to complications as she is Peter Parker’s (Spidey’s alter ego) significant other.
Director Marc Webb is keeping the script tightly concealed, so there are no details of how true the story will stay to the comics.
Spider-Man is directed by Marc Webb, written by James Vanderbils and Alvin Sargent, and produced by Avi Arad, Matt Tolmach and Laura Ziskin. Shooting begins in December.
