Rhett Reese And Paul Wernick Make Directorial Debut in DOC AND HOWIE
Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick are stepping into their directorial debut with the comedy DOC AND HOWIE, which Montecito Picture Co. will produce.
Since they made a killing with Zombieland, the writers have been in demand! They are currently writing a sequel to Zombieland for Columbia, a G.I. Joe sequel for Paramount, and a Deadpool spinoff for Fox.
The story of Doc and Howie, which is described as “Harold and Kumar like”, follows the title characters and their accidental killing of an elderly woman when they refuse to help her carry her groceries up her stairs. This then leads the pair to meet the woman’s granddaughters; and the two struggle whether or not to tell the girls the truth of their grandmother’s death.
Steve Leff wrote the original Doc and Howie screenplay, which was in the top twelve “most liked” reads on the screenwriter Black list last year. Montecito is looking to start production by early summer. Doc and Howie will most likely be released by Paramount since Montecito has it’s first-look deal through the studio.
