Disappointment for Comic-Con Fans When Ticket Registration Crashes… Again.
Tickets for the 2011 Comic-Con were supposed to go on sale yesterday, and fans dragged themselves out of bed at 6AM Pacific Time to purchase their tickets… only to be greeted with a blank page and an error message on the Comic Con Website.
After a downpour of frustrated Twitter and Facebook messages Comic-Con International posted the following on their Facebook page: “It is our understanding EPIC is working to resolve the current problems. We know it’s a lot to ask, but we hope you can bear with us while they try to get things on track.”
EPIC is the company responsible for running Comic-Con’s registration.
At 8:30AM PST, after another hour went by with no sign of the system being fixed, Comic-Con shut down ticket sales and posted on it’s home page: “We are well aware that many people have taken time from work, school or other activities and others woke up very early. There really is no way to convey our level [of] regret for this turn of events. We are currently researching our registration options.”
This was the second time in November that system glitches caused Comic-Con to shut down their online systems. On November 1st fans were not able to complete their purchases. Since the event has seen such a hike in attendance over the last few years, fans are worried that the event will sell out in hours or minutes.
Comic-Con is running from July 21st – July 24th with a sold out preview night on Wednesday July 20th. Daily passes are available online only for $37.
