Jeremy Renner May Take Over MISSION: IMPOSSIBLE From Tom Cruise
In the most recent installment of the MISSION: IMPOSSIBLE series, Jeremy Renner co-stars with Tom Cruise, and it looks like he may replace Tom Cruise in future films. The fourth installment, officially titled Mission: Impossible – Ghost Protocol will hit theaters December 16th, 2011.
Rumors have been heard that J.J. Abrams and Cruise were thinking of handing over the series to a younger actor or even an ensemble, and recently Renner stated: “It’s a franchise to potentially take over. I can’t predict the future and what they want, but that’s certainly the idea.”
He didn’t go into specific details, because the script is still in the works, but he did say: “It’s Tom’s baby. He’s the engine behind the thing. What happens after that, we’ll see.”
Ghost Protocol will also star Lea Seydoux (Inglourious Basterds’) as the female villain as well as Lost‘s Josh Holloway in his first major film role.
