Andy Harries Planning Pink Floyd Film
Producer of The Queen and The Damned United, Andy Harries is planning his next film. Harries is creating a movie based on Pink Floyd’s Another Brick in the Wall; however the film will not be a remake of the 1982 film The Wall. Instead, Harries is going to tell the story of the children who sang on the track, and their music teacher.
The film will follow music teacher Alun Renshaw and his music class that eventually ends up singing the chorus to Another Brick in the Wall, the Pink Floyd hit that reached number one in 1979. The lyrics in the song are to this day controversial, and the entire incident ended up with the London school board firing Renshaw.
The only problem that is foreseeable is that Harries doesn’t actually have the rights to the song as of yet. Songwriter Roger Waters holds the rights, and is planning on touring The Wall next year, so the timing for Harries might be perfect.
Steve Thompson, a first time writer is working on the scripts for Left Bank and BBC Films.
