French Filmmakers and YouTube Reach A Deal
Last week, the French associations of authors, filmmakers, and other artists reached a deal with YouTube. In accordance with the new agreement t here are now going to be more TV shows and movies available online in France, which will allow the involved artists to be paid when their productions are put on YouTube.
The deal was announced on Thursday November 25th between the major groups that represent the creative talent in France, and Google’s YouTube. The basis of the deal will allow YouTube more access to produced content, and under YouTube the filmmakers and other artists will receive better online protection for their projects.
In September of this year YouTube struck a similar deal with music video directors in France. DailyMotion, the French competitor of YouTube announced plans the day before that they would be feeding content from 20 TV stations. There’s no word on how this will impact YouTube’s deal.
