Nicholas Braun Will Play Lead In Kevin Smith’s HIT SOMEBODY
During his podcast Hollywood Babble-On, Kevin Smith announced that Nicholas Braun had been cast as the lead in Smith’s hockey comedy HIT SOMEBODY. Braun has a role in Smith’s political horror film The Red State, and it looks like he made an impression on the director!
Kevin Smith has given several actors a start in his films. Ben Affleck appeared in Mallrats, and Chasing Amy; Will Ferrell had a starring role in Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back before he became a house hold name. The director also took Jason Lee out of the skate park and made him a Hollywood star.
During the podcast Smith said: “He’s this really great actor who I love to death and he is the perfect lead for this hockey movie, for this script, which is based on this Warren Zevon song.”
The lead in Hit Somebody was initially set for Seann William Scott, but Scott accepted the lead in a different hockey comedy Goon.
Braun can be seen previously in Sky High and on the ABC Family series 10 Things I Hate About You. Smith is expected to begin filming on Hit Somebody sometime between July and September of 2011.
