Amazon and Onlive Developing Competitive Services to Netflix

Streaming service

Netflix may be at the top of the online streaming service right now, but competitors are starting to show up on the horizon that could challenge its dominance. The latest offering comes from two different companies, Amazon and Onlive.

Amazon is expected to build upon their current Amazon Video On Demand service by providing a subscription streaming service that would be bundled into current pricing schemes that include a $79 a year charge for the Amazon Prime service. Onlive isn’t as established as Amazon, so details about their potential program are not as well known.

While Amazon has its own library and current program to expand, Onlive has to start from square one. They do however have investment backing from Warner Bros. studio, which could open up a huge library of titles to any service they develop.
