Mark Wahlberg To Produce THE RAVEN

After 8 months of negotiations, Universal Studios has finally acquired the rights to the short film THE RAVEN. This is not to be confused with the Intrepid Pictures’ project with the same title starring John Cusack – this version of The Raven does not include Edgar Allan Poe.

Instead, Raven focuses on a man with powers being chased around downtown LA by robotic police drones while a police ship helps with the effort from the skies.

Mark Wahlberg is producing the feature length film along with Steve Levinson. The Raven is being developed as a starring vehicle for Wahlberg since his success from The Fighter. Justin Marks will write the script, with Nick Osborne, Trevor Engelson and Oly Obst executive producing.

The Raven is part of the short film wave where many up and coming filmmakers released their own mini movies, trying to catch the eye of the big Hollywood Studios. Rocardo De Montreuil was successful after a 8 month affair where the project almost fell through several times.

De Montreuil recently signed a deal with Universal to direct Lowriders, a coming of age drama that will be produced by Imagine.
