Katee Sackhoff Cast in Shan Piller’s SEXY EVIL GENIUS
Known for her role of Starbuck on Battlestar Galactica, Katee Sackhoff will appear in SEXY EVIL GENIUS. Genius follows the story of a group of strangers that are brought to a bar in downtown LA by the one thing they have in common – an ex-girlfriend (Sackhoff). While her intentions aren’t known, by the end of the night revenge is had, romance reappears, and the ex’s reputation as the evil genius remains intact.
What is most remarkable about Genius is the writer of the film. Scott Lew, suffers from ALS or Lou Gehrig’s Disease. He is a quadriplegic, confined to a wheelchair, and is unable to speak. He writes by using an infrared dot on his forehead and points to letters and words on the computer screen. Before his ALS had worsened, Lew wrote and directed Bickford Shmeckler’s Cool Ideas starring Patrick Fugit and Olivia Wilde.
“Writing is the only way I really get to express myself with complexity,” writes Lee. His condition worsened this year, making Genius difficult to write. “When I started (the script), which was just over a year ago, I could still mumble a bit, so I dictated what I could and used my head to point out words that I couldn’t pronounce,” he notes. “That was a lot faster than now. I lost my speech completely in June of this year.”
Genius will be produced by the company that produced the TV series Dead Zone and Haven – Piller/Segan/Shepard. Sackhoff is currently shooting A Haunting in Georgia, and will act as co-producer on Genius.
