ROCK OF AGES Looking to Cast Alec Baldwin… And Possibly Tom Cruise?

Alec Baldwin & Tom Cruise

Based on the hit musical, ROCK OF AGES is being adapted for the big screen with Adam Shankman in the director’s chair! Featuring music from 80s hair metal bands like Poison, Twisted Sister, Bon Jovi, and Styx, Rock of Ages is the story of a Midwest girl who travels to LA in hopes of becoming an actress.

Alec Baldwin has been offered the role of Dennis Dupree, an ex-rocker that is now the owner of the Bourbon Room, a club on the Sunset Strip. The musical debuted in Los Angeles with Kyle Gass (Tenacious D) in the role of Dennis, before the show was moved to the Broadway Stage.

Currently Baldwin has only been offered a role, but chances of him signing on to the film are high.

Tom Cruise’s involvement is in the earlier stages – Cruise is currently being looked at by Shankman for a supporting role of rock star Stacee Jaxx. New Line has not offered anything to Cruise yet, but rumor has it that he’s prepping his voice in a recording studio!

Production for Rock of Ages is tentatively scheduled for March, which is right around the time that Cruise will be finished shooting Mission Impossible: Ghost Protocol.
