McG and Breck Eisner Both Want To Direct OUIJA
The powers that be at Universal have a decision to make. They’ve set a release date for their film OUIJA as November 9, 2012… but don’t have a director as of yet. It’s not for lack of trying.
Sylvain White (The Losers), and Taken director Pierre Morel have spoken to the studio and pitched their take on the film, but without any results. Scot Steward (Legion) and John Moore (Max Payne) also presented their takes on Ouija, but to no avail.
Then two more contenders pitched their stories.
McG presented his vision for the film, which will be an adaptation of the Hasbro board game that is supposed to let the players conjure up spirits of the dead, which has a script by Edward Kitsis and Adam Horowitz (Tron Legacy), and will be produced by Platinum Dunes.
In addition to McG, The Crazies director Breck Eisner also pitched his version of the project to Universal.
There isn’t much information about the plot of Ouija, just that it won’t be a horror movie the way that most people thought (Much to my disappointment. I have a great idea if anyone cares to listen!), but will follow along the supernatural/adventure genre of The Mummy and Indian Jones films.
Again, Ouija is set to be released on November 9, 2012, so Universal needs to find a director shortly!
