Gemma Arterton Will Star in Michael Mann’s CAPA
Based on Susana Fortes novel Waiting for Robert Capa, Michael Mann is set to direct the film. Gemma Arterton stated that CAPA has been confirmed, and Arterton will be stepping in front of the camera as Gerda Taro. Taro was the first female photojournalist to cover war from the front lines, and she and Capa were romantically involved before her death.
Arterton, known for her roles in Clash of the Titans and Prince of Persia is excited to have the opportunity to take on more diverse roles.
In addition to her casting news, she also stated that Andy Garfield would be starring in Capa, but this has not been confirmed. With Garfield currently working on Spider-Man, and being looked at for other high profile roles, it is not yet certain that he will pick up Capa’s camera.
Now that Mann has Arterton tied to Capa, he can begin looking for financing for the project, but given that his last two films – Miami Vice and Public Enemies – didn’t perform so well in the box office, financing is not a given.
