Judi Dench Cast in J. EDGAR
Well, it looks like the cast for Clint Eastwood’s forthcoming biopic, J. EDGAR, is coming along nicely. According to IndieWire.com, the latest cast member officially announced is Judi Dench.
Rumors of Dench’s potential casting had been bandied about for a while, but it finally became official when the director himself dropped the news recently.
There’s no word yet on what role she will play in the film, but Dench will be joining what is looking to be quite an amazing cast, including the likes of Leonardo DiCaprio (who will play the titular role), Armie Hammer as his assistant /closeted lover Clyde Tolson and Aussie actor Damon Herriman, who will play Bruno Hauptmann, the man convicted of kidnapping and killing the Lindbergh baby.
There is even some word that Charlize Theron may possibly be added, though it’s not quite official yet. It does appear that she might be leaning towards working with Eastwood and DiCaprio over starring in Snow White and The Huntsman. The fairy tale story is slated to shoot at the same time and Theron is reportedly considering both roles at the moment. If she does decide to work on J. Edgar, she would play Helen Gandy, a Justice Department file clerk who ended up being Hoover’s personal secretary.
When asked about Theron’s possible casting, Eastwood had this to say:
“We think she will be in the film [with a smile.] And Judi Dench is definitely in the film and there we are.”
