Joe Carnahan Set To Direct THE GREY
Straight off of the Fox film The A-Team, Joe Carnahan is all set to rough it and shoot his next project – THE GREY. A thriller that will start Liam Neeson, Dermot Mulroney, Dallas Roberts, Frank Grillo, and others is the story of an oil rig crew that are stranded in the Alaskan wilderness by a plain crash.
Sounds horrible, right? What I didn’t mention is that they’ve crashed in the middle of a pack of rouge wolves. Carnahan said the wolf pack is what makes The Grey stand out: “The wolves have a territorial range of 300 miles, and they will run you out if you cross that. If you’re within 30 miles of their den as is the case here, they will try to kill you. It’s simple arithmetic, but it creates an opportunity for one of those man vs. nature movies I love like Deliverance and Touching The Void.”
Production will begin next week in Vancouver in the Norther British Columbia region, where temperatures can fall to 30 below. “I took off my hat to see how long I could last, and my skin was burning with frostbite in a little over a minute,” Carnahan stated. In a way, it’s great, because it beats the shit out of the cast and that suits the storyline.”
There is no release date set for The Grey.
