Ed Westwick Cast in J. EDGAR
I’ve got some more casting news for J. EDGAR. According to Deadline.com, Gossip Girl star Ed Westwick has been cast in a major role in the film.
The drama, directed by Clint Eastwood, is about manipulative FBI director J. Edgar Hoover and stars Leonardo DiCaprio. Westwick will play the role of Agent Smith, a clean cut operative with writing skill. Once Hoover discovers Smith can write, he recruits him to write Hoover’s biography, until the agent gets a little too close to the truth.
It’s also being reported that Charlize Theron will not be playing the role of Helen Gandy, despite rumors that have been flying around to the contrary. The actress instead decided to sign up for Snow White and the Huntsman at Universal. Eastwood is now reportedly looking at Naomi Watts and Amy Adams as possibles for the Gandy role. Also singing on to play Hoover’s assistant and secret lover is Clyde Tolson (The Social Network).
