Frances McDormand Cast as Villain in MADAGASCAR 3
Watch out, movie world. Frances McDormand is getting animated – and evil at the same time. Heat Vision is reporting that the actress has been cast to voice the villain in DreamWork’s latest installment of MADAGASCAR 3, due out in May 2012. In what will be the first voice-over feature for the actress, McDormand will voice a mean-spirited animal control officer who leads her team to capture the animals.
McDormand will join Ben Stiller, Jada Pinkett Smith, Chris Rock and David Schwimmer, all of whom will reprise their roles as comfortable-in-New-York animals who mistakenly end up on an African island. In the newest installment, they will reunite and attempt to find their way home by way of a traveling circus. Additionally, a score of new characters is set to be introduced, among them an Italian sea lion, a Russian tiger and a Latina jaguar.
Previous director Eric Darnell will helm Madagascar 3, with a script by Noah Baumbach. Since 2005, the popular Madagascar franchise has been huge money-maker for DreamWorks, even inspiring a TV spin-off series called The Penguins of Madagascar.
