Noomi Rapace Cast in PROMETHEUS
Ridley Scott has chosen the lead actress for his next project, called PROMETHEUS.
According to TheWrap.com, Noomi Rapace is set to star in the film. Prometheus is 20th Century Fox’s original sci-fi epic and was initially conceived as a prequel to Scott’s own Alien. The director apparently cast Rapace after becoming taken with her portrayal of hacker heroine Lisbeth Salander in The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo. Reportedly circling the film’s other female lead role are Oscar winners Angelina Jolie and Charlize Theron.
The initial draft of the screenplay (which was based on an idea from Scott) was penned by Jon Spaihts (The Darkest Hour). Then he worked with Lost co-creator Damon Lindelof to revise the script, which took the story in a different direction.
The project is said to use the Alien DNA to tell a larger, more provocative story, but other than that the plot is being kept firmly under wraps.
Fox is scheduled to release the film on March 9, 2012.
Rapace is currently filming Sherlock Holmes 2 with Robert Downey Jr. and Jude Law.
