Willow Smith Wants To Play ANNIE

Willow Smith

Get ready, 2011 – Annie may soon be whipping her hair back and forth. According to TheWrap.com, Hollywood could be seeing young star Willow Smith in the lead role of a remake of the classic musical, currently in development at Will Smith’s production company, Overbrook Entertainment.

Sony is in talks with Will Smith about mounting a remake of the project, which his daughter has expressed interest in starring in. Rapper Jay-Z, the man behind Willow’s hit pop song “Whip My Hair” is also rumored to be in talks for collaboration of the music, although it remains unclear if the proposed remake will include any original songs.

Smith’s kids have somewhat of a history sharing the screen with their famous parents – Willow starred alongside her father in 2007′s I Am Legend. There is no report if Willow’s lead role in Annie could mean a starring role as Daddy Warbucks for Will Smith, although it certainly wouldn’t be out of the question given his musical background.

What do you think of an Annie remake, and do you think Willow would be a good choice? Would you like to see another Hollywood parent/child collaboration?
