THE ICEMAN Cast To Include Stars James Franco, Michael Shannon & Benicio Del Toro
THE ICEMAN will get quite the starry cast treatment, Deadline.com reported today. James Franco, Michael Shannon and Benicio Del Toro were all announced to have joined the cast of the film, in an announcement made by Millennium Films and Bleiberg Entertainment.
The Iceman is based the book The Iceman: The True Story of a Cold-Blooded Killer by Anthony Bruno and on interview footage from the documentary The Iceman Tapes: Conversations with a Killer by Jim Thebaut. The screenplay, written by Ariel Vromen (who will also direct) and Morgan Land, focuses on Richard Kuklinski, a mob contract killer responsible for killing over 100 people and then freezing the bodies of his victims. He was never suspected by family and friends, who thought of him as an idealistic family man. Shannon will play the family-man-mobster while Del Toro will co-stars as Kuklinski’s employer, the notorious mobster Roy Demeo. Franco, currently garning accolades for his role in 127 Hours will play his mentor assassin known as Mr. Softee.
Del Toro was last seen in The Wolfman and will soon be seen as Moe, one of the three stooges, in the new film adaptation of the old comedy series, while Shannon can be currently seen in the mega cable hit Boardwalk Empire.
Do you think Michael Shannon can pull off the role of a cold-blooded killer?
