Jason Statham In Consideration For ECHELON
Action star Jason Statham is the newest contender to star in the thriller feature ECHELON, Deadline reports. Previously, Eric Bana was attached to the project, but that deal has fallen through, allowing Statham to be considered.
Statham, who was previously in The Mechanic, would play the role of Nick Stone, an SAS soldier who finds himself in a dangerous situation with the Russian mafia while trying to obtain the Echelon computer program. No deal has been made at this time, although the action star has expressed interest in the film.
Echelon is based on pseudonymous author Andy McNab’s novel Firewall, which is the 3rd in a series of 13 books. Simone Crane, a stunt coordinator previously known for his work on Angelina Jolie vehicles The Tourist and Salt, will make his feature directing debut with this adaptation.
