Jon M. Chu to Direct G.I. JOE 2
Several names were floated around as contenders to helm G. I. JOE 2 after G. I Joe: The Rise of the Cobra director Stephen Sommers decided not to return for the sequel. Deadline is now reporting that Paramount narrowed that list down to two names (Jon M. Chu and Gary Gray) before settling on Chu.
While the deal has not yet been finalized, it is in the works and production on G. I. Joe 2 is set to begin this fall. The studio next must decide which cast members will return for the sequel. The studio is apparently talking to Channing Tatum first and will go from there.
Chu helmed the very profitable Justin Bieber: Never Say Never and his director’s fan cut of that film will soon be in theaters. He also directed Step Up 3D and Step Up 2: The Streets and is behind the popular web series ‘The LXD: The Legion of Extraordinary Dancers.’
Do you think Jon M. Chu is a good choice to direct G. I. Joe 2?
