Third Bridget Jones Film Set For Production
Filmofilia is reporting that Renée Zellweger has agreed to step back into the world of Bridget Jones’ Diary, this time for a third film. Although Zellweger was said to have hesitations about signing on due to an unwilling to gain weight again, producers have reportedly sealed a deal by promising that there would be a different-looking Bridget Jones this time around.
Both Hugh Grant and newly-crowned Academy Award winner Colin Firth are set to reprise their roles in the popular franchise. The first film (based on the novel of the same name by Helen Fielding) became a critical success with Zellweger snagging an Academy Award nomination for her role. Due to its intense popularity, a second movie, Bridget Jones: The Edge Of Reason was released in 2004. In 2005, Fielding released a third Bridget Jones book, titled The Independent. With the script still being written and plot ideas still being sorted, it’s not yet clear how much the writers will base the third film off Fielding’s book.
Production of the film is still in its early stages, but slated to be released sometime in 2011.
