5 Most Romantic Movie Moments

To know them is to love (or hate) them, and we all know them. The film industry is notorious for giving us the most romantic, wonderful, and just over all disgustingly sweet moments of all time. And then expect us to have lasting relationships with people that AREN’T Rhett Butler.
But I digress. That’s why it’s fiction, right?
Regardless of my bitterness that I will never have a relationship along the lines of Harry and Sally, may I present (in no particular order) 5 of the most romantic movie moments. Fair warning – I may fangirl slightly during this article.
[Warning: There might be spoilers for the movies mentioned.]

When Heath Ledger dances across the bleachers in TEN THINGS I HATE ABOUT YOU to impress Kat? Come on now, what woman WOULDN’T melt if a guy enlisted an ENTIRE MARCHING BAND to help pull off a stunt like that?
Did I mention that he sings? And dances? In a football stadium? *sigh*

I don’t even know where to START with MOULIN ROUGE, it’ is FULL of romantic moments.
Let’s just do this:

What girl doesn’t want a Westley? The guy battled pirates, a few of the R. O. U. S – es(?), and came back from the DEAD to find Buttercup.
The most romantic part of THE PRINCESS BRIDE? When Prince Humperdinck finds Westley and Buttercup (right after the storming of the castle) and challenges Westley.
Despite recovering from being “mostly dead”, Westley launches into a monologue about taking Humperdinck “to the pain” (as opposed to “to the death”) and the very last moment when he stands up, points his sword at the prince and tells him to: “Drop. Your. Sword.”
As you wish, Westley. As you wish.

What I love about THE NOTEBOOK is that it’s a love story that will make you want to jump off of a bridge but that is done very WELL. Noah and Allie are two of the best characters in a romance EVER.
The Notebook, like Moulin Rouge has a lot of romantic moments, but my favorite?
When Allie comes back to Noah after leaving him for Lon and their passionate and tear jerking fight where he tells her that she’s a “pain in the ass 99% of the time” and then their kiss in the rain. So fantastic.

When Mark arrives at Juliet’s door and she opens it to him holding up cardboard signs about how perfect she is and how much he loves her.
Why is he holding up cards? Because she’s married to his best friend. It sounds horrible, I know, but it is the most ROMANTIC moment of LOVE ACTUALLY and will forever be one of my favorites ever.
All of these movies at one point have just about drove me over the edge. which, isn’t that the mark that a scene is particularly well done? Regardless that these scenes are things that will NEVER happen in real life and set unrealistic expectations for men everywhere, they are some of the best and most romantic scenes out there.
Keep them coming Hollywood!
I know I missed a lot – what are your favorites?
