Keanu Reeves To Possibly Get Back In Action In AKIRA
It’s been a few years since Matrix star Keanu Reeves has bent space and time, but Reeves may be getting back into action sooner than later. The Hollywood Reporter is confirming that Reeves is a possible top contender for the lead role in AKIRA, the English-language live action film based on the anime and manga work. The film will be directed by Albert Hughes and will focus on Neon-Tokyo and New York, where biker gang leader Kaneda tries to save his best friend Tetsuo from a medical experiment that could turn deadly.
Finding a lead for this project has been a challenge, with reports that Warner Brothers has considered names such as Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Robert Pattinson, James Franco and Michael Fassbender. Although there is no final offer yet for Reeves, it seems likely he will take on the action role. Currently, there is no word on other casting news for the film.
