Sony Pulls Movies From Netflix
If you’re an avid user of Netflix instant stream, you may have noticed the sudden decrease in any movies from Sony. Never fear, this has nothing to do with Netflix itself, but with Sony and Starz.
According to Yahoo Movies, Starz and Sony are negotiating a possible renewal of their digital distribution deal. Currently, Starz has a deal with Netflix through early 2012.
Pauline Fischer, VP of content acquisition at Netflix wrote in a blog post on Friday: “You may have noticed that Sony movies through StarzPlay are not currently available to watch instantly. This is the result of a temporary contract issue between Sony and Starz and, while these two valued partners work through their differences, we hope you are enjoying the wide variety of new movies and TV shows added daily.”
Sony and Starz weren’t available for comment.
What does this mean for you, Netflix user? No Sony films until this is resolved. However, with the library that Netflix sports, I think we’ll make it.
