Movies In Theaters This Friday, July 22, 2011: CAPTAIN AMERICA: THE FIRST AVENGER, FRIENDS WITH BENEFITS, and more
Wondering what movies are coming out to theaters this Friday, July 22, 2011? It’s Captain America week! But if you’re in the mood for comedy, you might want to check out Friend with Benefits this weekend.
However, if I was to pick one movie to see this weekend it would be limited release Another Earth, which I saw at the Los Angeles Film Festival and absolutely adored. It’s without a doubt one of my favorite films this year. You can find more films getting released below. Have a great weekend!
Captain America: The First Avenger
Synopsis: Captain America: The First Avenger will focus on the early days of the Marvel Universe when Steve Rogers (Chris Evans) volunteers to participate in an experimental program that turns him into the Super Soldier known as Captain America. As Captain America, Rogers joins forces with Bucky Barnes (Sebastian Stan) and Peggy Carter (Hayley Atwell) to wage war on the evil HYDRA organization, led by the villainous Red Skull (Hugo Weaving.)
Friends with Benefits
Synopsis: A young female headhunter (Mila Kunis) in New York convinces a potential recruit (Justin Timberlake) to accept a job in the Big Apple. Despite an attraction to each other, both realize they’re everything they’ve been running from in a relationship and decide to see what happens if they leave emotion out of it and keep it strictly physical.
Another Earth
Synopsis: In ANOTHER EARTH, Rhoda Williams (Brit Marling), a bright young woman accepted into MIT’s astrophysics program, aspires to explore the cosmos. A brilliant composer, John Burroughs (William Mapother), has just reached the pinnacle of his profession and is about to have a second child. On the eve of the discovery of a duplicate Earth, tragedy strikes and the lives of these strangers become irrevocably intertwined.
A Little Help
Synopsis: It’s a movie for everyone whose life has been thrown off-course, out of whack, or simply not turned out the way they planned it. In other words, it’s a movie for everyone, period.
Set in suburban Long Island in the summer of 2002, with the psychic wounds of 9/11 still fresh, A LITTLE HELP is a story that takes a comic, searching and profoundly empathetic look at a few pivotal months in the life of dental hygienist Laura Pehlke (Jenna Fischer)—an ordinary woman whose life suddenly flies off the rails—and her heroic efforts to re-establish a sense of security and normalcy for herself and her son.
Sarah’s Key
Synopsis: Paris, July 1942: Sarah, a ten-year old girl, is taken with her parents by the French police as they go door-to-door arresting Jewish families in the middle of the night. Desperate to protect her younger brother, Sarah locks him in a bedroom cupboard – their secret hiding place – and promises to come back for him as soon as they are released. Sixty seven years later: Sarah’s story intertwines with that of Julia Jarmond, an American journalist investigating the roundup. In her research, Julia stumbles onto a trail of secrets that link her to Sarah, and to questions about her own romantic future.
