Hey Netflix: Objects In The Mirror Are Closer Than They Appear
Netflix has long been the dominant force in media rentals through the mail, and more recently the on-demand streaming market. A recent misstep from Netflix however has opened the door for Amazon to possibly take a big chunk out of their market share.
Amazon has quietly been building their own on-demand media library through which users can rent or purchase movies and television episodes. Users can rent TV episodes for $.99 and movies for $3.99. Amazon’s library recently reached a major mark when the service hit the 100,000 title mark.
Amazon has a prime opportunity to overthrow Netflix after the company announced a recent pricing scheme change. Netflix most popular subscription plan is going to see a 60% increase in monthly cost.
