BRIDGET JONES Opens Her Diary Again For The Big Screen
It’s official – A third installment of the BRIDGET JONES DIARY films is now in the works! According to Entertainment Weekly they have confirmed that Working Title Films will finally get started on the third film that they’ve been talking about since 2009.
The first installment, Bridget Jones Diary, was released in 2001 and brought in a reported $281 million, while the second film The Edge of Reason (which was torn apart by critics) brought in $262 million world wide. Based on the novels by Helen Fielding, Renee Zellweger stars as Briget, with Colin Firth and Hugh Grant as Mark Darcy and Daniel Cleaver, respectively.
While there isn’t much information on the third film, last year Colin Firth did say: “I can tell you that Bridget (Zellweger) and Mark (Firth) can’t have children, I think that’s the way it goes on. So then she makes the usual mistake of going back to Daniel Cleaver (Grant) for long enough to get pregnant. And I think he dumps her, and she’s left stranded, and guess who comes back to rescue her?”
What do you think of a third installment of Bridget Jones? With The Edge of Reason being as dismal as it was will a third movie bring Bridget back?
