Keira Knightley Cast As Lead In Joe Wright’s ANNA KARENINA
ANNA KARENINA is the story of an early 19th century woman making her way through Russian’s high society. It has been confirmed by Deadline that the film adaptation of the Leo Tolstoy novel will be directed by Joe Wright and star Kiera Knightley in the title role.
This isn’t the first time that Knightley and Wright will work together; Wright directed the actress in both Pride & Prejudice and Atonement. With Knightley in the role of Anna, Jude Law in the role of her husband Aleksei Karenin, and Aaron Johnson as Count Vronsky, the casting seems almost perfect for these roles.
In addition to the three leads, Kelly Macdonald, Matthew Macfadyen, Emily Watson, Olivia Williams and Ruth Wilson are others that will join the cast of Anna Karenina.
Focus Features will distribute Anna Karenina in the United States with Universal Pictures International distributing worldwide. The film is scheduled for sometime in the second half of 2012; stay tuned for more details!
