LINCOLN Elects Jackie Earle Haley As Vice President
Steven Spielberg’s new film LINCOLN has added Jackie Earle Haley to the cast! Deadline reports that Haley will play Alexander Stephens, the vice president of the Confederate States during the Civil War. Stephens was in direct opposition of Lincoln’s slavery principles, and is best known for his speech where he stated that slavery was: “natural condition of blacks and the cornerstone of the Confederacy.”
Yikes! Haley, who is best known for his Oscar nominated performance in Little Children, will work alongside Daniel Day-Lewis (Abraham Lincoln), Sally Field (Mary Todd), and Tommy Lee Jones.
Haley is currently in London shooting Tim Burton’s Dark Shadows, but will be ready to begin filming for Lincoln this fall. Dreamworks is timing the release for late 2012 – after the presidential elections.
