Ben Affleck Will Direct Matt Damon And Casey Affleck In Mobster Movie
For the first time since Good Will Hunting, Boston natives Ben Affleck and Matt Damon will team up once again, this time to take on the story of mobster Whitey Bulger. Deadline reports that Affleck is set to direct, co-star, and produce the untitled film while Damon will co-star and produce as well. Casey Affleck will also join in a supporting role.
Damon will play Bulger, a South Boston crime boss that fled New England in 1994 and was on the lam for 16 years, and spent 12 of them on FBI’s Ten Most Wanted List. His run finally ended in Santa Monica. Affleck and Damon’s story will be written by Terence Winter (Boardwalk Empire) and will follow Bulger’s childhood, his time in Alcatraz, and his mob days.
Warner Bros has picked up the film which will be produced under Affleck and Damon’s Pearl Street Films banner. Affleck is in the middle of shooting Argo for the studio, who is also looking at the actor for an adaptation of Stephen King’s The Stand. Damon was recently seen in Contagion, and Casey Affleck can be seen in the recently released Tower Heist. All three are repped by WME.
