Ashton Kutcher To Play Steve Jobs
Earlier this week, The Hollywood Reporter released the news that Ashton Kutcher was attached to an independent Steve Jobs biopic. Kutcher will play none other than Jobs himself in the Joshua Michael Stern film titled simply: Jobs.
Jobs will be produced and financed by Five Star Institute’s Mark Hulme. Sony grabbed the film rights to Walter Isaacson’s authorized biography of Jobs after his death in October of 2011, but Stern will begin principal photography on Jobs in May while Kutcher is on hiatus from his CBS sitcom Two and a Half Men.
While Kutcher is known mostly for comedy, he has taken a stab at more dramatic roles with The Butterfly Effect and Bobby. The resemblance between Jobs and Kucther is uncanny, so maybe the actor can channel a little bit of Steve for this uncharacteristically serious role!
Stern will direct with a script from Matt Whitely, and Jobs will follow the rise of Jobs from hippie to Apple co-founder.
Kutcher is represented by CAA and Untitled Entertainment; Stern is represented by CAA and 3Arts.
