“Mr. Toad’s Wild Ride” Heads From Disneyland To The Big Screen!
If you’ve ever been to Disneyland, you’re familiar with Mr. Toad’s Wild Ride. Good news for lovers of this The Wind in the Willows adaptation: according to Deadline, Mr. Toad’s Wild Ride has plans to make a big screen debut! Since Disneyland’s opening in 1955, Mr. Toad has been a fixture in Fantasyland, and was even available at Disney World until it was replaced in 1998 with The Many Adventures of Winnie the Pooh.
As previously mentioned, Mr. Toad’s Wild Ride is loosely based on the Disney version of The Wind in the Willows and video director Pete Candeland has been asked to bring Mr. Toad to life! Justin Springer (Tron) will act as producer for Mr. Toad’s Wild Ride, and Disney is still looking for a director for this live-action/CGI mixed film.
Disney has been successful in taking previous rides from their theme parks and turning them into billion dollar franchises – just look at The Pirates of the Caribbean films! Do you think Mr. Toad’s Wild Ride (which was always a favorite of mine when I’d visit Disney) will find a warm welcome on the big screen?
