Matthew Vaughn And Universal In Talks For “Kick-Ass 2”
In 2012, Matthew Vaughn directed, produced, and financed what is now the cult hit Kick-Ass, a film based on the Mark Millar-John Romita Jr. comic series. Since the film was a huge success (it grossed $96 million worldwide with a budget of only $30 million), Universal is in talks with Vaughn about filming Kick-Ass 2.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, Vaughn will only produce the sequel, but picked the Jeff Wadlow (director of 2008’s Never Back Down) to helm Kick-Ass 2. The film, which was written by Vaughn, takes the comic miniseries Kick-Ass 2 as well as the spinoff Hit-Girl, which sources say, will be the first act of the sequel.
Expect to see a few of the actors from the first installment of Kick-Ass return for the sequel. Those thought to return are Aaron Johnson (Kick-Ass), Christopher Mintz-Plasse (Red Mist), and Chloe Moretz (Hit-Girl).
