Steven Soderbergh & Channing Tatum Announce ‘Magic Mike: The Musical’
The stripper extravaganza Mike Mike is now set to become a musical according to Deadline. Said to be loosely based on the life of actor Channing Tatum (Dear John, Stop Loss) under the direction of Steven Soderbergh (Haywire), the film will now be adapted as a Broadway musical and is currently being brought together by theater head John Buzzetti. Both Soderbergh and Tatum are on board as producers with the help of their will produce with partners Gregory Jacobs, Nick Wechsler and Reid Carolin.
Carolin, who is currently working on ‘The Contortionist’s Handbook’ and ‘White House Down’, penned the screenplay for the ‘Magic Mike’ movie which stars Tatum alongside ‘I Am Number Four’s’ Alex Pettyfer, Matt Bomer of ‘White Collar’, Matthew McConaughey (The Ghosts of Girlfriend Past), Olivia Munn (The Newsroom), and more. Carolin, Tatum’s partner in Iron Horse Entertainment, will now write the musical as well. ‘Magic Mike: The Musical’ is aiming for a 2013 debut on Broadway. The movie is currently playing in theaters and was released on June 29, 2013.
