Get the Early Scoop on The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn Pt. 2 Straight from Comic-Con 2012
No one but the most dedicated of fans waits six hours (or in some cases four days!) in a line on damp grass for an hour long panel that seems over before it even begins. But as they have for the past four years, six thousand dedicated fans gathered in San Diego today for the Twilight Breaking Dawn Part 2 at Comic-Con. It will be the last time the Twilight fandom descends on SDCC, so excitement was the word of the day. Film Equals was right in the mix, camped out before dawn, in order to tell you everything you need to know about the much-anticipated final installation of the Twilight Saga.
We were treated to the first seven minutes of the film, otherwise known as Bella’s first hunt, as well as the scene in which the Cullens try to teach Bella how to act like a human before Charlie visits. By the time the cast came out (plus writer Stephenie Meyer) the energy in Hall H was pumped up.
So…Bella as a Vampire. What’s That Like?
Kristen Stewart has been waiting for this for four years and as many movies, and apparently it was well worth the wait. “Everything about her is amplified,” Stewart said. “I love her…she’s the coolest one.”
How Is Jacob Coping with Vamp Bella?
Taylor Lautner is the first to admit that Jacob hasn’t had the easiest time in the last few movies. “He’s always been stressed and emotional.” But in the second half of Breaking Dawn, as everyone knows, having imprinted on Bella and Edward’s daughter, Renesmee, Lautner assured us that Jacob would be “much less dramatic” and “more happy.”
Speaking of Renesmee…
Newcomer Mackenzie Foy is as cute as a button and landed the role of a lifetime as the half-human, half-vampire Cullen offspring. When asked about her favorite experience on the set, she confessed that riding on “wolf Jacob” was the most fun, even though she lost a baby tooth while filming it.
What Does the Future Hold For Edward?
Fans know that Stephenie Meyer has no current plans to finish Midnight Sun, the retelling of Twilight from Edward’s perspective, but she is very keen on the idea of Robert Pattinson writing an Edward book. Pattinson just blushed and shook his head.
Rob, if Edward in Breaking Dawn Could Give Edward in Twilight Any Advice, What Would It Be?
“Keep it in your pants.”
What Should We Expect on the DVD Deleted Scenes?
Fans of the Jacob and Rosalie rivalry wil have to wait for the DVD release to see the scene where Rosalie taunts Jacob with a dog bowl. Both actors cite it as a favorite scene of theirs; they spent a whole night chucking bowls at each other, but only an innocent cameraman was injured when a bowl hit him in a delicate area.
Any Favorite Memories?
Stewart says that she will remember Bella’s wedding to Edward; it was one of the rare times when she felt she didn’t need to struggle to get into character because of the gorgeous set decorations. Kellan Lutz says his favorite memory is finally getting to kiss Nikki Reed. And Jackson Rathbone still talks about playing Jasper as a human in all of his Confederate glory.
How Does Everyone Feel About the End of the Series?
Stewart may not like the term “bittersweet,” but it’s clear that the actors will miss working together after a crazy, four-year ride. Nikki Reed might have summed it up best when she said that the cast started off as kids, but they have all watched each other grow up. They’re really more like family.
Although the excitement was definitely dampened by the tragic death of a fan waiting in line for the panel on Tuesday, the Twilight franchise rocked Comic-Con for the last time, not only bringing together the entire main cast, plus Stephenie Meyer, but also the extended cast of international vampires who will be introduced in the movie. I would have to say that the whole experience was definitely worth the wait! On a personal note, I’d like to give a shout-out to my Australian and Canadian line-buddies, Kayla, Andrea, Carly and Kristina, who helped pass the time.
Twilight Breaking Dawn Part 2 hits theatres on November 16th, 2012. Mark your calendars now if you haven’t already. You won’t want to miss it!
