‘The Hobbit: There and Back Again’ Release Date Announced
New details surrounding the third installment of ‘The Hobbit’ have emerged with both Warner Bros and MGM Pictures behind the official announcement per Deadline. Together movie heads of the franchise have revealed that the third installment is named The Hobbit: There and Back Again. The last and final film will be released worldwide to theaters on July 18, 2014.
Warner Bros Pictures President of Domestic Distribution, Dan Fellman, has since issued a statement surrounding the news fans have been waiting to hear, explaining the decision behind the release dates. “We wanted to have a shorter gap between the second and third films of ‘The Hobbit’ Trilogy. Opening in July affords us not only the perfect summer tentpole, but fans will have less time to wait for the finale of this epic adventure.”
Veronika Kwan Vandenberg, Warner Bros Pictures President of International Distribution, also added to the announcement. “’The Hobbit: There And Back Again’ opening in the summer will maximize playability for what promises to be an event film for fans the world over.” The second installment of the trilogy from director Peter Jackson entitled ‘The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug’ is slated to hit theaters on December 13, 2013.
On top of directing the promising features, Jackson is also producing the films with Carolynne Cunningham, Fran Walsh and Zane Weiner. Alan Horn, Toby Emmerich, Ken Kamins, and Carolyn Blackwood will executive produce.
