Harrison Ford Talks Han Solo Return in ‘Star Wars: Episode 7’: “He’s Upbeat About It”
It’s the news we’ve all been hoping to hear (sorry Mark Hamill), as fans of the recently resuscitated Star Wars franchise will be elated to hear that Harrison Ford, Han Solo himself, could be returning for the series’ seventh chapter, set to hit screens in 2015.
A highly placed source has said: “Harrison is open to the idea of doing the movie and he’s upbeat about it, all three of them are,” referring to Ford, Hamill, and Carrie Fisher specifically. Unlike his co-stars, however, Ford is still a regularly working actor who only recently returned to his other iconic 80s role, Indiana Jones.
The actor has never made his disdain for Solo a secret, either, saying “as a character he was not so interesting to me,” in a 2010 ABC interview discussing his work. With Disney shelling out $4.05 billion for the rights to the franchise, however, we’d guess a substantial amount of cash could well tempt the 70-year-old back to a galaxy far, far away.
Whatever the end result, an upbeat note from the original trilogy’s three main stars is certainly a good thing for plans going forwards but, with next to nothing known about where the franchise might be heading for episodes seven, eight and nine, this is all just speculation.
